🧾 Completing or Resuming a Pending Order

If you see an order sitting in a pending state and you are looking for a way to "pay" it, here is the key thing to know: in Scaut you do not pay for an individual order the way you would settle an invoice. You place the order, and your credits are consumed at that moment. A pending order is usually one that was started but not yet placed, so the task is to resume it and complete the final step.

How credits and ordering relate

There are two separate things that are easy to confuse:

  • Credits and your subscription are how you fund screening overall. You top up credits or hold a plan, and this is handled in your billing settings.
  • Placing an order is what spends those credits, for one specific subject and set of checks. Credits are deducted at the moment you place the order, not before.

So if an order is "pending", you do not need a separate payment action. You need to finish placing it, as long as you have enough credits available.

Resume and complete a pending order

  1. Go to your dashboard and find the subject whose order is pending. Orders awaiting action often appear under Actions.
  2. Look at the status shown next to the subject. A pending order commonly shows something like Awaiting questionnaire or offers a Resume order option.
  3. If you see Resume order, select it to re-enter the order flow.
  4. On the Checks step, confirm the checks and products you want for this subject.
  5. Continue to Review and tick the consent checkbox confirming you have the subject's consent.
  6. Select Place order. At this point the order is created and your credits are deducted.

Why an order can be pending

Common reasons an order has not been placed yet:

  • It was saved as a draft and never completed.
  • It is waiting on a step earlier in the flow, such as the subject questionnaire.
  • The checks or scope were not finalised.
