πΆ How Check Pricing Works: Credits, Zones, and Estimating Cost
Credits are the unit of pricing
Screening is paid for in credits.
- 1 credit = β¬1, excluding VAT.
- Credits are spent when you place an order, on the checks, packages, and bundles you select.
- You can hold free monthly credits with the Premium plan, and top up credits at any time, either in bulk or as you go.
For how credits sit alongside your subscription, see "Scaut Subscription Plans".
Two pricing zones: EU and Non-EU
Scaut groups countries into two pricing zones, EU and Non-EU. The rule is simple: the same product costs the same within the same zone. So the price of a given check depends on two things:
- Which check it is. Different checks cost different numbers of credits.
- Which zone the country falls into. The same check can cost a different amount in the EU zone than in the Non-EU zone.
Two countries in the same zone carry the same price for the same check. Two countries in different zones may not.
Where to see exact prices
Credit prices vary by check and by country, and they can change, so the platform is the only place with exact, current pricing. Log in, build the order you are considering, and the credit cost is shown before you place it. Nothing is charged until you place the order.
Estimating the cost of a multi-country order
You can estimate a total before logging in by reasoning in zones. For example, suppose you want the same criminal record check for three people: one in Poland, one in Romania, and one in Ukraine. Poland and Romania are in the EU zone, so that check costs the same for both. Ukraine is in the Non-EU zone, so it uses the Non-EU price for that check. Your estimate is therefore two EU-zone prices plus one Non-EU price for that check. Log in to read the exact per-check credit prices, then add them up. Since 1 credit = β¬1 excluding VAT, the credit total is also the cost in euros before VAT. 1 credit = β¬ 1 (+VAT), $1.2 USD, or 25 CZK. this allows us to operate easily in an international environment.
Getting better value: packages and bundles
Individual checks are flexible, but packages usually give better value, and bundles better still. A package is a pre-configured set of checks ordered together. A bundle lets you buy packages in bulk to use when you need them. If you screen regularly, comparing the per-check cost against a package or bundle is worth doing. See "Packages" in the Pricelist for what each one contains.
What happens to credits you do not use
- Free monthly credits reset at the end of each month and do not roll over.
- Credits you have paid for carry over to the next month.
- On an annual plan, all credits are granted up front and remain valid for 12 months.
